Welp…… It’s been a rollercoaster of a year. In the world, we lost so many public figures including Gene Wilder, Robert Vaughn, Florence Henderson, Fidel Castro, John Glenn, George Michael, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, and unfortunately more. Personally it’s been full of ups and downs, with a couple of family events that have been difficult.
It’s easy to get mired in the nastiness that happens. This year, for me, there have been good things too – a trip to Europe that was more than memorable, my job is still here and I still love it, and most importantly my adult-kids are healthy and wonderful as is my other half. How about you? What makes you happy these days when you think about it?
I’ve a new post on my Patreon – a horse and his window. This one is a public post, have a look! 🙂
Also completed are two Witch cards from Perna Studio’s Witchcraft trading card set. These two are available from my Etsy store.
Please have a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year! Cheers!

In between a few other things, there will be some Artist Proof cards available directly from me, if anyone is interested in having a commission. Friday, the AP cards from Perna Studios’ Witchcraft series should arrive, and Friday also marks the release of Topps’ Star Wars: Rogue One Mission Briefing trading card set, so I will definitely have a few up on Ebay and there are a couple of AP cards that can be requested.
Please click the images to bring you to the Ebay auctions, if you wish to view them there, and thank you for looking! Padmé and Grievous
Well. After a really disastrous mess between Windows 10 and some Radeon drivers (I lost A LOT of stuff), I’m back online. I did get lots of work completed during that time, so I guess that’s a plus… Two sets are now finished, as well as a card and another watercolor. If you’ve contacted me and I haven’t gotten back to you, almost all my emails were lost, as well as scans for the new Star Wars set (that’s right, I have no scans for that… first time ever this happens) and the new Perna Studios Witchcraft set.
Watcha gonna doo. Nothing for it but to start over with my lost accounting files (even though I backed up those dratted things, they still won’t open) and keep trucking along. I will have a small number of Star Wars Rogue One: Mission Briefing AP cards available, probably in September or so, whenever the set is actually released.
For now, these are the latest pieces that can be shown (I’ll have more shortly)
Perna Studios Enchanted Realms – Artist Proof card. 2.5 x 3.5 inches, acrylic.
Knaresborough England – 9 x 12 watercolor painting
I’m done! “The” project is done. All that’s left is paperwork, scanning, and hoping my cards will be approved, I’ve not done so many for a set in a long time, on top of other projects to be worked on. Nevertheless I’m so happy to have been invited to participate in it, and look forward to sharing details with everyone when permitted.
So that means that Monday I’m 200% back into commissions and jobs, so keep an eye out for scans from me, if you are one of the wonderfully patient people waiting for things from me. It shan’t be long now, for true!
At the bottom of this post is one commission completed – a Halloween AP from Perna Studios, and next week will include Disney, an almost completed already cover, Halloween, the start of my Chrome Perspective returns, and more. Perhaps not all at once… 😛 For later on, I’ve been thinking of creating card-size reproductions of some of my cards – both my own and commissions. I’d love to hear feedback on this idea, be it positive or negative, for curiosity.
Concerning that little movie coming out in December called The Force Awakens (maybe you’ve heard of it?), it seemed I’d have to wait until January to see it, as tickets up here have been snapped up like nobody’s business. A few theatres within a 50 mile radius will have tickets, but one would have to stand in line – and judging by the fact that nearly all advance tickets available within a 100 km area are sold out (except for rafter seats), it’s a good guess the lines will be long. I’m not 20 years old anymore. Biting the busquit, I bought VIP tickets in a theatre for my son, daughter, and myself (significant other gets to tag along with me for the second viewing in January), so I’m really happy! Cushy seats and appetizers included. Shucks, how terrible. 😆
Makes up, a little, for the fact that I can’t get any tickets for Muse in Montreal next January. Ah, c’est la vie.
Lastly, if you were (or know someone who was) following the show Outlander – written by Diana Gabaldon – last winter/spring, I wrote a piece about the infamous season finale episode “To Ransom a Man’s Soul”, second of the two-parter finale. Discretion is advised, it was not an episode for the faint-hearted. The article was published on the Black Ship Books site. I write articles on various topics that either concern or interest me, and following my interview with Matt Fuller two weeks ago, I’d be interested in interviewing other people in the sketch card and/or art community – etiher collectors or artists. Interested? Let me know. Would you like to read about someone? Throw names in the hat! People are terribly nice about responding to my little emails, thus far.
Until next week, may the gouls and goblins leave your chocolate stashes untouched! 🙂
Artist Proof card of the Grim Reaper, from Perna Studio’s Halloween 2 trading card set.
2.5 x 3.5 inches, acrylic paint
With a chill in the early autumn air, I’m now a third of the way through the current sketch card project. Commissions are slow, but I am getting them done – and I appreciate everyone’s amazing patience with me!
A painting destined for base art just got going today, got a little further on a cover, finished a Fantasia card, and did another “Endangered Series” card, this time a Suffolk Punch. (Didn’t do all this today, by the way…)
For anyone interested, I have a Journey to the Force Awakens artist proof card available on Ebay, and I’m open to offers. I also now have in hand 4 artist proof blanks from the Perna Studios, Halloween trading card set, do contact me about that. Of those 4, two were spoken for and a 3rd one was possibly taken, so 1 for sure is available. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com for any questions!
Below: Please click the Tatooine Journey to the Force Awakens Artist Proof image to go to the auction. I’m asking $215.00 american, but am open to offers. Thank you for looking!

Perna Studios has released a new promo for a new trading card set in the works for 2016! The Black Unicorn is my contribution to the promo art. She’s an unusual unicorn… virgins have no particular influence over her, and she isn’t related to any divine offspring. She did used to date, however, the second-from-front carriage sport horse “Lance” (part of the Prime Minister’s six-horse gang for his pompous tours) for a short period of time. “Too involved with the state of his tail,” she mentioned in the summer edition of the tabloid Feathered Forelocks. Isadora is presently head of “Unicorns United”, dedicated to the preservation of wild mushrooms (which unicorns thrive on), which are said to be vanishing. Something to do with the bees it seems.
Unicorns are deathly afraid of bees.
Perna Studios is very excited to announce our seventh trading card set (in the works) entitled Spellcasters 2: Enchanted Realms (for release in the Spring of 2016). This set will focus on Elves, Fairies, Mermaids, Dragons and Unicorns. This set will also include sketch cards from some of the top artists in the industry.
